The biggest impact on my career was my mother, a firefighter instructor and an EMT. I spent many hours handing her what she needed to make a difference in the life of others. She served many years as the Medical Director at the scout camp where I served as archery instructor and later program director.
Personal Background
I am very active with family and I use my life lessons learned to help others navigate life struggles such as chronic illness and Lyme disease (wife/daughter), Autism/Aspergers/Mental Health (daughter), and congenital heart defects (grandson). It isn’t all work and no play though.
I regularly hook up the camper and venture off to a campground or grab the backpack and hit a hiking trail.

Professional Background
I am a Nationally Registered Paramedic, Certified Flight Paramedic, and Certified Emergency Medical Services Instructor.
Since being licensed in 1992, I have ridden many fire trucks, ambulances, critical care transport units, and helicopters but, my passion for serving others began even earlier as a first aid instructor in the Boy Scouts and a Junior Firefighter in the Fire Department.
The passion for serving and teaching others is reflected in numerous past and present positions of leadership such as Field Training Officer, Supervisor, Administrative Supervisor, Clinical Education Specialist, and Clinical Lead as well as many committee appointments and advisory boards.
In 2007, I saw the need to improve the quality of individual EMS providers and push the boundaries of the Alabama EMS System and thus founded Emergency Services Education & Consulting (ESEC, LLC), a training group and consulting organization.
Presently, I serve as both CEO and COO overseeing the American Heart Association Training Site, the NAEMT Training Site, the online Learning Management System, Instructor development, and daily operations.
The office keeps me busy, I do enjoy the patient encounters and challenges but, I am happiest in the classroom. If it can be taught, I probably teach it.
